Easter Eggs and other Ephemera

I base a lot of the adventures around real-world myths and history. Here are some of the influences i’ve used:

The ship and captain in The Kidnapping were named after the ship and captain from The Goonies, filmed in Astoria.

The demon from Egao No Josei is properly called Kuchisake-Onna, a traditional Japanese demon. Check out the rest of Yokai.com. There’s some cool stuff.

The names Taketiku and Asaji Washizu are taken from Akira Kurosawa’s Throne OF Blood, which in turn is based on Shakespeare’s Macbeth

The ship The Tonquin and Duncan Macdougall were real-life things from Astoria’s history. Read more about them here or read the book Astoria by Karen L. Leedom. You can get it at most well-stocked bookstores in the northwest.

The Goblin’s Choice menu from What’s In The Box part 2 was based on the menu at The Columbian Cafe. You should go, and order the Chef’s Mercy. Guaranteed delicious.

Goblin’s Choice itself is out of place. Based on a restaurant a bit south of Waldport called Hilltop Cafe placed obviously much farther north.

The Golem from I Am A Rock was based on the traditional Jewish Golem on the book The Golem and The Jinni by Helene Wecker
